Trial and Error People…

It turns out nobody knows what the fuck is going on. They are all putting on a show, a great show with outstanding performers.

We walk into the theatre of life; greeted by ice cold smiles, certainly-confused-somebodies giving instructions on how to be like them, hopefully someday. One certainly-confused-somebody pours a whiskey as old as the fine young thing he hopes to corrupt with his stale sperm, sometime, later this evening. A confused piece of shit walks in with hopes of leaving a certainly-confused-somebody. He pitches his hopes and dreams, and he is promised a Tuesday afternoon meeting but tonight is not the night for all that jazz. Pipe down, uyakhinya sbali, your hopes and dreams will spoil a wonderful night.

The bruised artist is tapping and bleeding on the hopeless piano, but nobody comes to his aid, nobody listens but every piece of shit and certainly-confused-somebody will talk about how beautiful the music was.

Across the room a beautiful almost-somebody trips on Mathunjwa’s keys and spills a glass of nonsense on the carpet. Wall to wall Mathunjwa keeps bleeding, God is with us. Inkosi inathi.

An I-used-to-be-somebody searches for remnants of his glory in a brown bottle of Satan’s piss. Manaka reminds him, “we are those that crawl before we walk, and you my friend were born running.”

Themba Mhlongo, Simphiwe Tshabalala, and Sakhile Nkosi are all involved, and they are all making God in a loveless room. What a night!

Above would be the opening scene to a movie we call Trial and Error People. Below is an invitation to an afternoon of black beautiful souls sonically reimagining the light and darkness of our collective existence. The venue is Phinda Mzala and the guest is anyone who follows the link below…
